Elaine has volunteered for many different animal shelters over the last 20 years or so. About seven years ago one of the dogs she had been fostering won her heart and she kept this girl named ‘Tippy’. Without Elaine‘Tippy’ was going to be euthanised at a high kill pound in Melbourne. Ever since that time ‘Tippy’ has been a great comfort to her mum Elaine, even when she sadly lost her other dog during that period due to cancer.
Elaine is a single mother of two lovely girls 12 and 15 years of age, along with ‘Tippy’ who completes the family. ‘Tippy’ also acts as a support dog for the family which helps them greatly. ‘Tippy’ loves to join her family on camping trips and even does some Sheep Herding Training when she can, which she enjoys very much.
In September 2019, Tippy developed a small lump on the right side of her chest needing some minor work to correct it. Unfortunately at her most recent check-up just 2 weeks ago, the lump had now grown to a tennis ball size, which was affecting her mobility and created some breathing issues. After seeing her vet at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice they suggested that surgery was the only option to help her. Elaine who was unemployed could not afford the expensive surgery along with taking care of her daughters so when a friend recommended for her to contact PMC for help that’s exactly what she did.
“Thank you again, I am soooo happy and thankful PMC is able to assist me. We love Tippy” Elaine wrote.
With the great work from Dr. Elizabeth Hendricks and Dr. Jorge Baron at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice, PMC was able to manage ‘Tippy’s’ case and help pay for the surgery which thankfully isn’t life-threatening to ‘Tippy’. We are all very happy we could help this family stay together.
Pet Medical Crisis relies on public donations to assist pensioners and disadvantaged owners who cannot afford life-saving veterinary care.
