‘Gizmo’ – Little dog in lots of pain is definitely not a gremlin

Gizmo’ is a 9-year-old Shih Tzu who was originally a gift between a husband and a wife. Sadly both have since passed away and their adult daughter Ashley was left to look after the cutie.

‘Gizmo’ is a happy little guy who didn’t even know how to bark or play when Ashley first met the little furball. “I look after him and he means the world to me… Gizzy comes everywhere with me even the shops. He is my family, he is my doggie son” Ashley told PMC.

Ashley who suffers from severe back pain and is on a disability pension was in such agonising pain she needed an ambulance called to get her some help. Sadly in the heat of the situation, ‘Gizmo’ who was right there looking after his mum got knocked badly. In the dreadful fall, he dislocated and fractured his hip. Without the funds needed to help her heart and soul, Ashley needed to reach out for help. After seeing the veterinary team at Murray River Animal Hospital – Wodonga and getting the diagnosis all involved knew they needed some assistance to help the little guy. Pet Medical Crisis was contacted to get involved and do what we do best, manage the case and help with the payments to alleviate some of the stress and ensure the dog wouldn’t be put to sleep unnecessarily.

‘Gizmo’ had his hip relocated, but the hip didn’t stabilise so he needed a femoral head osteotomy. ‘Gizmo’s’ left leg femoral head and neck were removed successfully and he is now recovering nicely while he gets spoilt and rests comfortably at home. Thanks to the Murray River Animal Hospital and all involved in helping this family stay as one

Pet Medical Crisis relies on public donations to assist pensioners and disadvantaged owners who cannot afford life-saving veterinary care.
